Greetings Kölnbusiness 2021

Dear congress guests,

How can computer games promote learning? Where are games drivers of innovation for the economy? What roles do games play for cooperation across generations? The gamescom congress will also answer these and many other questions this year.

Although we will also miss the many visitors and the special esprit of gamescom here in Cologne this year as a result of the pandemic, I am very pleased that we are offering a unique stage with the digital gamescom congress, which shows a broad public what great potential is to be found in computer games. This is because we have learned through the pandemic that the application areas of the games industry extend well beyond colourful entertainment.

The cultural power of games and games technologies will accompany and support us in our everyday lives in many ways. I am pleased that the gamescom congress is once again making an important contribution to intensifying a consciousness of the chances of computer games and to making clear their many diverse application areas in practice.

I wish all participants a lot of fun, many valuable impulses and hope to be able to welcome you again next year on location in gaming-friendly Cologne.
