Submit topics for the gamescom congress 2023 now!
The potential for economic, technological, and social progress of games is demonstrated nowhere as broadly as at the gamescom congress. From artificial intelligence to industrial applications to use in schools: everyone benefits from the proficiency of the games industry. Topic proposals for the gamescom congress on 24 August 2023 can now be submitted. Contributions from a wide variety of disciplines with a relation to computer and video games are sought after. Submissions can be made using the form opposite. The "Call for Submissions" ends on 5 July 2023.

In education, industry, healthcare, or social life - games and game technologies enrich our lives on various levels. The gamescom congress showcases these various innovations and for this reason is unique in Europe. With around 800 guests on site in Cologne and more than 140,000 users in the live stream, last year's congress inspired more people than ever before. The gamescom congress is aimed at experts from a wide range of business sectors as well as from culture, education, politics, science, journalism, and game development.
Current research projects or practical examples in which games make a difference are suitable for submitting topic proposals. The topics can be wide-ranging and provide answers to the following questions, for example:
- What influence does game development have on artificial intelligence?
- Which potentials can artificial intelligence in games unlock for other areas of life?
- How can games promote learning?
- How does the industry and small and medium-sized enterprises benefit from game technologies?
- What opportunities do games offer in the health sector?
- How can games inspire more climate protection?
- What role do games play in social interaction?
The congress will take place on 24 August 2023 as part of gamescom, the world's largest event for computer and video games and Europe's leading business platform for the games industry. The gamescom congress is organised by Koelnmesse GmbH and game – the German Games Industry Association. The conference is sponsored by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
Instructions for the submission process:
- Topic proposals should highlight the potentials and challenges of computer games that do not require expertise in game development.
- The submission of a topic requires a meaningful title and a brief description. A more detailed presentation of the topic proposal is not necessary at the time of submission.
